President William Ruto has called on Kenyan youth to ignore what he termed as “empty opposition politics” and instead focus on supporting his government’s long-term development plans aimed at transforming their lives.
Speaking during a youth empowerment forum, Ruto said that the current opposition has no clear agenda or solutions for the challenges facing young people, choosing instead to spread negativity and political noise. The President insisted that his administration is working on tangible programs that directly benefit the youth through job creation, innovation, and empowerment.
“My message to the young people of Kenya is simple — do not be distracted by those who have no plan for you. We have a clear roadmap to secure jobs, grow the economy, and make sure every young Kenyan has a chance to prosper,” Ruto said.
Ruto highlighted several ongoing government initiatives designed to uplift young Kenyans, including the Hustler Fund, affordable housing projects, digital jobs programs, and the expansion of technical and vocational education institutions (TVETs). He noted that these programs were part of his broader “Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda,” which focuses on empowering ordinary citizens through access to finance, education, and technology.
According to the Head of State, his administration is deliberately investing in the youth because they represent the majority of Kenya’s population and are the engine of national development. He emphasized that sustainable change would not come through street protests or political theatrics but through participation in government-led opportunities.
“Some people are busy shouting about politics every day. But shouting won’t create jobs or put food on the table. We are building a future based on ideas, innovation, and hard work,” Ruto stated.
The President further challenged the opposition to present a credible alternative plan rather than criticizing government efforts. He said that leadership should be about offering solutions, not slogans, and warned against leaders who thrive on division.
Ruto’s remarks come amid growing political tension between the Kenya Kwanza administration and the opposition, with rival leaders accusing the government of failing to address the high cost of living. However, Ruto maintains that the reforms underway — including agricultural subsidies, SME financing, and education support — are already setting a strong foundation for long-term stability.
He also assured the youth that his government is committed to creating an environment where talent and innovation can flourish. The digital economy, he said, remains one of the fastest-growing sectors, and Kenya’s young innovators are being supported through government partnerships with global tech firms.
“The future belongs to you, and this government is here to make sure you have every tool to succeed. Don’t waste your energy listening to people who have no plan. Let’s work together to build a country we can all be proud of,” he added.
Political analysts have interpreted Ruto’s renewed engagement with the youth as part of a wider strategy to strengthen his base ahead of future political battles. By focusing on empowerment programs, the President hopes to win over the trust of millions of young voters who have grown increasingly skeptical of political promises.
As Ruto continues to roll out youth-targeted projects across the country, his message remains clear: ignore political noise, stay focused, and take advantage of the government’s opportunities to secure a better future.
