President Ruto Warns Beneficiaries Against Misusing NYOTA Funds

President William Ruto has cautioned beneficiaries of the NYOTA program against wasting the funds meant to empower them through irresponsible spending.

Speaking during a public event, the Head of State expressed his disappointment at reports that some recipients of the youth empowerment fund were allegedly using the money to finance relationships and buy alcohol instead of investing it productively.

“I should not get a report that someone who got the NYOTA money used it to fund romance or to buy alcohol,” President Ruto warned.

The President emphasized that the NYOTA initiative was introduced to help young Kenyans start small businesses, create employment opportunities, and improve their livelihoods. He urged the youth to embrace discipline and accountability, adding that the government will closely monitor how the funds are utilized.

Ruto further noted that misuse of such opportunities undermines the government’s efforts to fight unemployment and poverty among young people.

“This money is meant to change lives, not to be wasted. Let’s focus on progress, not pleasure,” he added.

The NYOTA program is part of the government’s broader plan to promote entrepreneurship and financial independence among Kenyan youth.
